EducationGraduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's of science in physics and a minor in mathematics. GPA: 3.61. ACT: 32 (98th percentile). SAT: 1950 (90th percentile).
ExperienceMy experience with tutoring began in 5th grade when I stayed after school to help younger students in math courses. My most recent experience was teaching a physics lab of 20 students for multiple semesters. This experience helped me solidify my understanding of basic Newtonian physics principles and how to teach them to others. I have taught in a variety of contexts including a year and a half as a missionary, a private tutor to high school students, and even as a swim instructor to elementary school children. From my experience, I can work well with people of all ages and I am patient and eager to see students succeed.
I have always been fascinated by science and have excelled in my science and math courses since elementary school including AP Physics and AP Calculus. I received a solid Montessori elementary education from preschool to 5th grade which helped me have a strong, well-rounded educational foundation. My continued rigor for education enabled me to score a 32 on the ACT and in the 90th percentile on the SAT.
I have a passion for math and science and want to help others develop a similar passion. I had extremely good physics and math teachers and want to be the same for others.
HobbiesI'm a mother of two and wife to a medical student. In my time away from my kids I love to swim and play the piano. I love being outside and enjoying nature, especially the water. My perfect afternoon would be spent sitting by the ocean reading "Pride and Prejudice." While I am with my kids I love playing with them and teaching them all about the world around them. My typical afternoon is spent building Legos, racing trains and reading Curious George books. I enjoy pointing out to my 26 month old toddler basic ideas in physics such as the influence of gravity and the effect of friction. I am proud to report that he can already count to 14!
